Estero Homes for Sale

Nestled right between Fort Myers and Naples, Estero is a village covering an area of over 25 square miles along Florida’s picturesque Gulf Coast. Located in Lee County, it is best known as the home of the Florida Gulf Coast University, Hertz Arena, and Mound Key Archaeological State Park. The Village of Estero started out as a major citrus producing area. Its first homesteader was Gustave Damkohler, who farmed citrus on the Estero River, using the river to transport his harvest north through the Gulf of Mexico. The village was established and incorporated by followers of Cyrus Teed, an alchemist, and physician who became the leader of the Koreshan Unity. Teed and his followers settled on the Estero River in 1894, with Damkohler eventually joining the group and donating 320 acres of his land to the Unity. Today, Estero is a growing community that offers an exceptional quality of life. The village’s scenic surroundings, quiet coastal setting, and convenient access to shopping venues, restaurants, world-class golf courses, and outdoor destinations make it an enjoyable and relaxing place to live.
